Songwriter Paul Edward takes over open stage at The Ark in Ann Arbor (if you can call the allotted 8 minutes a “takeover”) to tease the first song from his debut Album “When I’m 64”.

To make it extra special, he’s convinced Chris Canas and Nikki D that playing open stage at The Ark is “good exposure” and so they’ll be joining Paul to save him the embarrassment of being that songwriter who can’t sing his own songs,

And that’s significant, because after The Skyles Calhoun Band broke up, Paul (Edward) Purdue was an on and off regular at The Ark Open Stage for over 3 decades, singing covers with the above referenced “voice God gave him.”

Chris Canas defines Detroit Blues with a record called “Detroit” that hit 84 on the Billboard charts, and Nikki D has more going on than the incredible voice you’ll hear: Guitar World magazine calls her “the Jimmy Hendrix of Sacred Steel.

Sounds like they got the business end of who’s getting “good exposure.”

Those who have been to open stage at the arc are familiar with the fact that if you haven’t been chosen two nights in a row, you get an automatic. Paul lost the ticket. He carried in his wallet for three years that would’ve gotten him a guaranteed slot.

The other methodology for a guaranteed slide is to produce five or more paying attendees who don’t participate in the performance. That’s where you come in. We’d love to see you there, and if you know you’re gonna be there, you can pre-purchase your tickets here that will help us to get our guaranteed slot which we anticipate we will sliding into right about 8:40 PM.

And hell, you can even help Paul pay for the first printing of the album by pre-purchasing. While we are certain that this record will not be deliverable by June 29. We are absolutely certain that it will be delivered by November 7 because that’s when Paul turns 65, and the premise of the name crumbles. So please understand that if you do pre-purchase, you know right off that album is “out of stock“. Don’t worry, we’ll send you updates every two weeks.

Join us, and hear “if I lose“ live. By the album, and you can sit on the rug in front of your record player for the rest of your life, listening to all 10 songs.
