HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY: Booksmith is turning 50!

hi, sweet friends,

Let's party! It's incredible to think, it's incredible to say: the Booksmith turns 50 this summer. Come help us celebrate.

What does 50 years mean in a bookshop? It means 18,250 days of looking for the best books we can find, 600 months of running into your friends at the store, 2,600 weeks of hosting authors from all over the world, reading something sexy in public, doing a little bop on the sales floor, handing a stranger the book that'll change their life, reading alone at the bar, finding that book you heard about but you're not sure what it's called, reading in bed with a flashlight, rearranging the display stacks just right, calling up your friend to tell them about the book they absolutely have to pick up next.

Building and running a bookstore is an act of love for the communities who sustain it, and who we sustain in turn. We're insanely fortunate that our work means we get to have this conversation with the world day in and day out and year after year. Not only could we not do it without all of you, it wouldn't be any fun either. Thank you endlessly for being the readers we get to share our lives with.

On Saturday, July 18 we'll be marking the day with an all-day, all-neighborhood party full of hands-on activities, special day-only merch, a custom cocktail, giveaways, and more. Please drop by and hoist a glass with us!
